Lime Pictures Celebrate Award Win
Lime Pictures’ hit show The Only Way is Essex has been bestowed further gongs, this time from the Broadcast Digital Awards, picking up two prestigious awards and being highly commended for the show breaking new boundries and generating discussion after every single episode.
The Broadcast industry awards for Best Entertainment Programme and Best Programme Marketing follow the show’s big win at the BAFTA awards last month.
Speaking of the win, Lime Pictures’ Creative Director and Executive Producer of The Only Way is Essex Tony Wood comments; “We are delighted that The Only Way Is Essex picked up a couple of Broadcast Digital Awards last night. The show has been a huge success with the British public who have taken the cast into their hearts, but to be recognised within the television industry for creating a ‘standout show that is witty, innovative and compelling’ is a huge honour. We’re thrilled that Lime Pictures has successfully brought this exciting new genre to British screens and is ‘breaking new boundaries’ with it.”
Broadcast magazine and the judging panel also praised Lime Pictures for The Only Way is Essex being the stand out show that contributed to a very successful year for ITV2. At the awards ceremny held in London last night, ITV2 picked up the two big awards and Broadcast magazine credited this to Lime Pictures’ hit show; “The Only Way Is Essex has helped ITV2 to a bumper performance at the Broadcast Digital Awards. ITV2 was crowned Channel of the Year and Entertainment Channel of the Year, and judges described it as having a “transformative” year with The Only Way is Essex being its standout show…”
The award for Best Marketing also recognised Lime Pictures’ digital media arm Conker Media for their contribution to the social media and online campaign for The Only Way is Essex which has been a big part of the show’s success.
While popular, the programme has been looked down upon by some for, in their view, lowering the tone of television standards.
