David Suchet hints at more Poirot
Actor David Suchet has dropped the strongest hint yet that there will be more episodes of the Agatha Christie detective Poirot.
The future of the ITV drama has been in doubt since the beginning of the year when reports claimed the adaptations were being axed because of the costs involved mixed with low ratings. Then it emerged over the Spring that ITV were considering ordering another adaptation – there are only five novels remaining to be adapted for television. Now the actor who plays the famous Belgian sleuth has dropped the strongest hint yet that Poirot will return.
I have done all but five of the stories. My lifelong dream will be releasing the Poirot boxset of all the novels she wrote. It may happen. There’s a green light flickering and I’m waiting for it to be steady. It may be next autumn.” – David Suchet quoted in The Daily Telegraph
The actor was honoured by a CBE for his services to drama and accepted the award from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Following ATV Today’s report in the Spring that ITV were considering adapting more Poirot novels we were flooded with comments and emails from fans of the detective drama all showing their support for further adaptations.
