Carol Burnett returning to All My Children
Actress Carol Burnett is returning to ABC soap All My Children ahead of its finale in September.
The actress, a fan of the ABC soap, will reprise her role of Verla Grubbs for several episodes as the soap reaches its final episode. The actress has played the character of Verla one/off since 1983 – reprising the role for several stints across the year such as the soaps 25th and 35th anniversaries. For All My Children‘s 25th anniversary in 1995 Burnett hosted a prime-time special marking the soap.
Since it was announced in the Spring that All My Children, along with One Life to Live, was being cancelled by ABC a string of returns have been announced for the soap as it bows out. Previous announced returns include Melissa Claire Egan, Kate Collins, Jennifer Bassey, Josh Duhamel and Eva LaRue. Meanwhile fans continue to protest at ABC over the decision to cancel the two soaps and are still holding out hope another broadcaster will step in and save the two long-running series’.
