Christopher Eccleston to join Game of Thrones?
There’s a rumour online that former Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston could be cast in the second series of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Casting for the second series of the fantasy drama has already begun with actress Natalie Dormer lined up to play Margaery Tyrell. The actress is probably best known for her betrayal of the doomed Anne Boylen in Showtime drama The Tudors. The actress has also appeared in BBC One drama Silk. Den of Geek report a rumour that Christopher Eccleston could also join the cast. Filming is due to begin on the second series of Game of Thrones at the end of July, in Ireland, and producers are continuing to cast roles for the new series. There’s no more news than just that at the moment – it’s just a rumour.
Eccleston played the role of the Doctor for a single season when Doctor Who was revived in 2005. He handed over the role to David Tennant who won critical acclaim for his portrayal of the Time Lord. Since leaving Doctor Who in 2005 Eccleston has appeared in Heroes, Lennon Naked, Accused and The Shadow Line.
Seeing as Game of Thrones is a ‘hot’ topic right now expect plenty more casting rumours.
