Kym Marsh defends Michelle Collins Corrie’ accent
Kym Marsh has defended Michelle Collins after Corrie fans have blasted her attempts at a northern accent.
Collins joined the cast of Coronation Street earlier this month as new Rovers Return manager Stella., the actress was best known as the scheming Cindy Beale in EastEnders. However, the character of Stella is a northerner meaning Michelle Collins had had to use a northern accent for the role and not everyone has been convinced by it. In fact fans of Corrie have been pretty vocal about their dislike of her accent but co-star Kym Marsh has defended the actress.
“I think viewers find it hard to accept because she was such a big character in EastEnders. People should give her a chance. She’s only just joined Corrie.” – Kym Marsh in New! magazine
Corrie producer Phil Collinson has already defended the actress and her dodgy accent saying “I think her accent’s great” but some fans would disagree with that.
