Scott & Bailey ends with strong ratings

ITV detective drama Scott & Bailey bowed out last night with nearly 6 million viewers.

The drama, starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, made an impressive debut for ITV in May with 8 million viewers for its opening episode. The drama benefited from a strong lead-in following on from Britain’s Got Talent. While subsequent episodes didn’t maintain the high of its debut Scott & Bailey has none-the-less performed well for ITV – gaining a higher audience than its predecessor in the 9pm slot, Vera (which has been renewed for a second season). Sunday night’s finale of Scott & Bailey had 5.7 million viewers and beat Stolen on BBC One, starring Damien Lewis, which had just 3.4 million viewers.

ITV haven’t, yet, announced the fate of Scott & Bailey but given its strong performance it’s got a good chance of being renewed.
