Actor confirms True Blood return

True BloodA fan favourite is returning to HBO’s True Blood but there’s a catch.

Warning: Contains Spoilers.

Vampire King Russell Edgington of Mississippi will be heading back to Bon Temp as actor Dennis O’Hare has confirmed he will reprise his role. The actor appeared in the third season of True Blood as the gay vampire King who was the “big bad” of the season. Dennis O’Hare has previously said he’d happily reprise his role and now it seems he’ll be doing just that. The catch? It won’t be until season five which, officially speaking, hasn’t even been commissioned yet!

They were definitely bringing me back, it was just a matter of if they wanted to bring me back the last couple episodes of season four or bring me back at the beginning. So they decided to do it at the beginning of season 5. – Dennis O’Hare speaking to Film School Rejects.

In season three Russell Edgington caused all kinds of trouble for several residents of Bon Temp – his werewolves were trying to track down Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), he kidnapped Bill (Stephen Moyer) and his henchman Franklin (James Frain) kidnapped and tormented Tara (Rutina Wesley). Meanwhile Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) discovered Russell was responsible for the murder of his family hundreds of years before and got his revenge by murdering his lover, Talbot (Theo Alexander). The death of Talbot sent Russell over the edge and he was last seen being buried in concrete by Bill and Eric.
