BBC announce new host of Strictly – It Takes Two

The BBC has announced that Zoe Ball will be the new host of Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two.

The spin-off show which airs on BBC Two weekdays in the autumn gives fans of the dancing show backstage video and interviews with the stars. Zoe Ball has previously been a contestant on the dancing show back in 2005, where she finished in third place. Speaking today she said “I am quite literally beyond elation! There has been quite a hullabaloo at home with the news. I’m giddy with glee and I may even have slipped momentarily into a celebratory Cha Cha Cha, although technically not a very good one!

Having been a contestant myself and having hosted the Strictly Come Dancing Tour, it would be fair to say I’m obsessed with the whole dance phenomenon, I love everything Strictly, from watching the partnerships blossom and bloom to the tricky footwork, the frocks and the shock exits, and of course the judges.”

Zoe Ball has had a long career at the BBC, and currently hosts the Saturday morning breakfast show on BBC Radio 2. Her most notable presenting role was in the 90’s when she teamed up with Jamie Theakston to host Saturday morning children’s programme Live and Kicking.

Strictly Come Dancing, and It Takes Two return later this year.
