NBC sets Chuck return date
NBC has revealed the return date for comedy/spy series Chuck.
The launch date for the fifth and final season of Chuck has been set by NBC. The spy series starring Zachary Levi will return for its final outing on Friday 21st October at 8pm – so Chuck viewers still have a few months to wait. Lead-star Zachary Levi recently spoke about the big finale of the series and how he expects a happy ending. Fans will be hoping for popular guest stars from previous seasons to return ahead of the show’s last episode.
The stateside series, described by NBC as a ‘action-comedy/spy-drama’ was created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The production follows the story of an “average computer-whiz-next-door” named Chuck Bartowski, played by Levi, who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend now working for the Central Intelligence Agency. The message embeds the only remaining copy of a software program containing the United States’ greatest spy secrets into Chuck’s brain, leading the CIA and the NSA to assign him handlers and use him on top-secret missions.
The show returns to NBC following a turbulant past. The series was nearly axed by the broadcaster after the second run, due to declining ratings – however viewer backing saw the show recommissioned. Fan power saw the shows sponsor, a fast food chain, help fund the third season. NBC have confirmed they will not be commissioning a sixth series for 2012.
