Joe McElderry wins Popstar to Operastar

{jcomments on}Joe McElderry has won the second series of Popstar to Operastar beating fellow finalist Cheryl Baker.

The singer was the favourite to win the series from early on and last night he went head-to-head with Bucks Fizz singer Baker. “Honestly, I’ve had an absolute blast with Cheryl, I love her to bits.” McElderry said after winning. The Geordie singer won the X Factor in 2009 beating Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon. He had chart success with his debut single but subsequent releases failed to chart well and he was later dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label. The singer has now reportedly signed up to a new record company.
