ITV deny reports that Kate Garraway has quit Daybreak

The morning stalwart has been on ITV’s breakfast shows since 2000 when she co-hosted GMTV Today.

ITV has confirmed to ATV Today that Kate Garraway has not quit the ITV 1 breakfast programme Daybreak.

The Daily Star is reporting in their latest tabloid story that Kate Garraway has quit Daybreak as entertainment editor and stand-in presenter. An ITV spokeswoman told ATV Today that the story in the newspaper is “absolutely untrue”.

Kate is the only regular personality on the current morning show from ITV left from the GMTV days, which was axed last year and replaced with Daybreak. Garraway began co-hosting GMTV Today in 2000 on the Friday edition, she later also added the Thursday outing to her schedule.

Prior to GMTV Kate had hosted Sky News’ breakfast offering Sunrise from 1998 and before that she worked for regional ITV in the Midlands presenting the Central News (South) edition from 1994 onwards.
