Channel 5 names Brian Dowling host of Big Brother

Big Brother returns to Channel 5 next month after being axed by Channel 4 last year. Brian will take up the role as the main presenter of the launch and eviction shows. Emma Willis has been confirmed as the presenter for the new spin off show – Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.
“I am so excited about this opportunity to host one of the most talked about shows on TV. It is 10 years since I won Big Brother so what better way to celebrate and mark that anniversary than to be asked to host the new series. It’s on a new channel and a fresh start for the show that has kept the nation entertained for 11 years and I am so excited, to be a part of it!” – Brian Dowling, new host of Big Brother.
Brian rose to fame in 2001 when he took part in Big Brother 2. After winning the show he went on to host children’s morning programme SM:TV and then late night quiz programme The Mint. He returned last year to take part in Ultimate Big Brother, in which he was crowned the winner.
“I’m so happy that Big Brother is back on our screens! I’m such a massive fan of the show so I’m over the moon that I’ve been asked to be a part of it. I can’t wait to get stuck in!” – Emma Willis
Emma was tipped as the hot favourite to replace Davina McCall as the main host. She had previously been co-host with George Lamb on Big Brother’s Little Brother last year.
Celebrity Big Brother returns to Channel 5 in August, followed by the main series in September.
