Saturday ratings: The Marriage Ref sinks further

ITV{jcomments off}ITV1’s struggling Saturday evening show The Marriage Ref sunk even further down the ratings chart over the weekend with less than 1.5 million viewers tuning in.

It was poor night for entertainment shows full-stop on BBC One and ITV1 as both broadcasters struggle to capture the audiences imagination. The two broadcasters, over the past few months, have suffered at the hands of low ratings on Saturday evenings as entertainment shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, Don’t Scare the Hare and Penn and Teller: Fool Us have all struggled to attract audiences.

That trend continued on Saturday evening with the latest episode of The Marriage Ref attracting just 1.4 million at 10pm. Beforehand on ITV1 Penn and Teller: Fool Us pulled in 3.2 million viewers and Odd One In, at 8.15, had 2.8 million viewers. ITV’s biggest audience of the night was for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which mustered 3.5 million viewers.

On BBC One John Barrowman’s Tonight’s The Night at 7pm had 3.7 million viewers followed by the National Lottery Show which had 5.5 million viewers. At 8.50pm the latest episode of veteran medical drama Casualty had 5 million viewers while Lee Mack’s All Star Cast had just 3 million viewers.

Channel Four’s documentary The Space Shuttle’s Last Flight had 1.2 million viewers followed by Arthurian drama Camelot which had just under 1 million viewers.
