Trinity Mirror group announce review into editorial procedures

Trinity Mirror, the company behind The Mirror newspaper has said that in light of the recent events at News of the World, it will conduct a review of editorial procedures. Spokesman Nick Fullagar for Trinity Mirror said “Clearly, after any significant event, it’s just good corporate governance.”
Last week it was claimed by former journalists working at The Mirror titles that phone hacking was rife in the late 90’s and early 00’s. The company has refused to comment on allegations made. The announcement today will also look at how they paid for stories.
The phone hacking scandal exploded earlier this month when The Guardian revealed that a private investigator working on behalf of News of the World, hacked into the phone of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler. In a shock move parent company News International decided to close down the 168 year old newspaper.
It has been widely stated that phone hacking was common across all newspapers, although this has yet to be proved. Prime Minister David Cameron has announced an inquiry will look into the practices of the British Press.
