True Blood stars record It Gets Better video messages
{jcomments off}True Blood actors Alexander Skarsgard, Rutina Wesley and Kristin Bauer have recorded video messages for the It Gets Better campaign.
The video messages have so far attracted a wide range of high profile celebrities all of whom have recorded messages for gay teens. The campaign, launched by Dan Savage, was in response to a string of suicides in America last year. It was believed that around 10 teens committed suicide because they were gay, or were perceived to be gay, and were bullied by their peers. The campaign is to combat homophobia and reassure vulnerable gay teens that they won’t always be the subject of prejudice.
Amongst those to record video messages for the It Gets Better campaign are President Barrack Obama, Hilary Clinton, Chris Colfer, Ellen DeGeneres, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera. HBO’s True Blood has been widely praised for its diverse range of LGBT characters – with most of its vampires “omnisexual” and having had bisexual encounters during the show’s run.
Actors Alexander Skarsgard, Rutina Wesley and Kristin Bauer along with True Blood’s showrunner Alan Ball have become the latest to lend their support to the It Gets Better campaign.
