Newspapers settle libel case out of court

Christopher Jefferies began libel proceedings against a number of newspapers over libelous articles which were printed when Jefferies was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was later released released without charge. His lawyer has said that Mr Jefferies has received an apology along with an undisclosed sum.
The Sun, The Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Daily Mail, Daily Record, Daily Express, Daily Star and the Scotsman newspapers were taken to court by Mr Jefferies. He was not at court today to hear the settlement but is said to be “satisfied” with the outcome.
