Syfy cancels sixth season of Eureka

Syfy{jcomments on}Just days after ordering a sixth season of Eureka broadcaster Syfy has cancelled the series!

This could possibly be the biggest turn around ever – just days after ordering a six episode sixth season of Eureka Syfy has seemingly changed its mind! The broadcaster has cancelled the six episodes and announced the series will end after its fifth season! A statement from the broadcaster has been released;

“After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012.“

The news is likely to come as a huge shock to Eureka fans – it literally came out of the blow! At the moment it is unclear as to what has happened in such a short space of time to change Syfy’s minds so dramatically! Only days ago they were confident that Eureka had a future beyond the six seasons of series 6 it had ordered – with hints it was prepared to order further episodes. Now Eureka has seemingly be cancelled with only one more season to go.
