The BBC has confirmed that Doctor Who will return to BBC One on Saturday 27th August. Up until today the BBC had not revealed the date for the return of the popular sci-fi series although it was widely expected to return in late August or early September. There were some fears amongst fans of Doctor Who that the series would air in America and Australia before episodes resumed in the UK – in a similar situation to spin-off Torchwood which airs in America on Starz six days before its UK broadcast on BBC One to the anger of some fans.

However, the fears of fans can now be put at rest because the UK and America will get the first new episode, Let’s Kill Hitler, on the same day. It was revealed a few weeks ago that Doctor Who would return to BBC America on the 27th. In Australia fans will have to wait slightly longer as the series will return on the 3rd September.

Yesterday the BBC released a prequel to Let’s Kill Hitler which bridges the gap between the episode and the mid-season finale A Good Man Goes to War. You can watch the prequel here >>
