The X Factor pulls in the viewers

ITV 1 are celebrating this morning after The X Factor return drew a peak of over 12 million viewers.

The eighth series kicked off last night, introducing three new judges and a batch of new hopefuls hoping to wow the audience. The X Factor at 8.00pm attracted 11.3 million viewers (including +1) and peaked just over 12 million. This makes it one of the most successful launches for The X Factor. The return of the singing show helped out other ITV 1 programmes which surrounded it. The return of All Star Family Fortunes posted nearly 5.8 million viewers.

On Channel 5, the first full highlights programme of Celebrity Big Brother posted an impressive 2.7 million viewers. This is one of the best Saturday ratings that the format has posted in a few years. Saturday episodes traditionally don’t rate well compared to the rest of the week.
