CNN, ITN Washington offices evacuated after earthquake
CNN and ITN offices in Washington are evacuated following earthquake in Virginia.
The 5.9 magnitude earthquake which rocked the east coast of the United States has affected some broadcasters this afternoon.
CNN decided to evacuate their Washington offices as a precaution and ITN tweeted to say there were doing the same.
A number of other buildings, including the Pentagon, were also evacuated as staff await to hear if buildings are safe to re-enter.
CNBC is broadcasting live coverage of the quake aftermath as tremors were also felt in New York. The New York Stock Exchange remained open and trading despite feeling the tremor.
The earthquake originated in Mineral, Virginia.
