ABC developing modern version of Jekyll and Hyde

{jcomments off}ABC are developing a modern-day version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mister Hyde.

The book was originally published in the late 1880s’ and was about a professor with a spilt personality – good and evil. Over the years there has been many different adaptations of Dr Jekyll And Mister Hyde with perhaps the most recent in the UK being Steven Moffat’s Jekyll in 2007 which starred James Nesbitt, Gina Bellman and Michelle Ryan.

The new ABC version under development is titled Hyde and according to Deadline is being developed by Sheldon Turner. The new version reworks the classic novel to be set in the 21st century revolving around Grant Hyde, an ER doctor ‘ a degenerative eye condition who is conflict-averse and hesitant to be captain of his own destiny’. Hyde’s experiments lead to strange side effects – a different personality that emerges and takes control.
