BBC Three lines up new Billie Piper comedy

Billie PiperBBC Three has ordered a new comedy starring Billie Piper.

BBC Three’s new controller Zai Bennett has revealed about a range of new programmes heading to the channel. Amongst them is a new comedy starring former Doctor Who/Secret Diary of a Call Girl actress Billie Piper. The actress will star in Tom and Jenny, a new pilot about a feuding couple who have broken up but refuse to move out of the house they own together. Tom and Jenny has been written by Lee Hupfield co-writer of Channel Four’s Star Stories.

Other comedies revealed by Bennett, at the Media Guardian Edinburgh Television Festival, include a new series starring Sharon Horgan who co-write and starred in the comedy Pulling on BBC Three between 2006 and 2009. Horgan also co-starred in the Channel Four comedy Free Agents which is being remade in America. Bennett also confirmed a second series of the Will Mellor comedy White Van Man had been ordered.
