Doctor Who tops August iPlayer requests

Matt SmithDoctor Who was the most requested programme on the BBC iPlayer for August.

The episode, Let’s Kill Hitler, was the most requested programme of the Summer month. Pretty impressive seeing as the episode aired last Saturday and therefore in few days left of August it managed to zoom up the iPlayer charts for the month to reach number one. It also pours scorn on various tabloid reports claiming – yet again – that Doctor Who was suffering a ratings lull. Let’s Kill Hitler was requested just under 1 million times in the few days of August it was available – when the September figures are added the episode will be well past the million mark.

Torchwood - Immortal SinsElsewhere Torchwood: Miracle Day features heavily in the top 20 requested programmes for the month taking 3rd, 4th, 5th and 16th for four of its episodes (Escape To L.A, The Categories of Life, The Middle Men and Immortal Sins). Unsurprisingly BBC Two’s Top Gear also features heavily in August’ most requested programmes.
