Elisabeth SladenThe DVD boxset for the fourth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will include a Doctor Who story as a tribute to the late actress Elisabeth Sladen.

The fourth series of the Doctor Who spin-off aired last year and featured current Doctor-actor Matt Smith crossover to the CBBC series in a special story which also featured Katy Manning reprising her role of Jo Grant for the first time on-screen since leaving Doctor Who in 1973. The fourth series boxset is due out at the end of October, released by 2 Entertain, and Elisabeth Sladen and Katy Manningwill feature an Doctor Who story from the 1970s featuring the character of Sarah Jane as tribute to actress Elisabeth Sladen who passed away earlier this year from cancer.

The story is Pyramids of Mars, previously released on DVD by 2 Entertain, featuring Sladen alongside Tom Baker. The story – part of the ‘gothic horror’ era of Doctor Who – is set in 1911 as the Tardis lands in an old priory which soon becomes homes to robots styled as Egyptian Mummies seeking to free the vengeful Sutekh who is trapped on Mars. The story is a favourite with many fans of the original series and is partly inspired by the Hammer Horror films of the time that were very popular.

A fifth season of The Sarah Jane Adventures, comprising of three stories filmed late last year, will be broadcast later this year.
