Ratings Drop for Ant and Dec's Red or Black
‘Red Or Black?‘ music and media mogul Simon Cowell’s latest series for ITV has failed to remain ‘in the black’ as viewers turn off the Ant and Dec fronted show.
On the game show’s first outing on Saturday night it hit an average of 6.1 million viewers. However since then, the prorgramme, which is airing nightly, has seen ratings drop off as the edtions have aired.
The latest outing pulled in an audience of 4.3 million viewers. The show has also been surrounded by “controversy” – which Simon Cowell programme isn’t? This time the show has been hitting the newspaper columns and front pages with stories of unsuitable contestants with seemingly criminal backgrounds.
“A good publicity tool for the series? Or a lapse of judgement? Despite the “controversies” that have covered the pages of the papers the ‘free promotion of the brand’ has failed to gain a major interest in ‘Red or Black?’.” Says ATV Today telly expert Justin Mason.
The same can’t be said for BBC One’s Who Do You Think You Are? Which took second place in last nights ratings with 5.7 million viewers, the top spot was taken by the nine o’clock showing of soap Coronation Street which pulled in 6.9 million to ITV.
