UTV hires new Commercial Director

UTV: Nigel RobbinsNigel Robbins has joined UTV Media plc as ‘Commercial Director Ireland’ and is to be based in Belfast. Robbins is charged with further developing UTV’s commercial interests across TV, Radio and New Media.

Nigel Robbins says: “This is a very exciting time to be joining UTV Media, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is now one of the biggest media companies in the UK and Ireland. The Group has an excellent reputation for providing brand-leading radio, television and digital services and I look forward to working with the senior management team across these key divisions within the organisation.”

Nigel has well-established credentials in content and creative development for television and new media and he has also worked in radio and print media. He has a wealth of senior management experience across multimedia platforms acquired in diverse and competitive markets, most recently as CEO of one of Europe’s most established game development companies.

Prior to this, Nigel spent a number of years in international markets, including an accomplished tenure with MTV Networks, a division of Viacom Inc., during the US-based entertainment network’s rapid international expansion. With MTV Networks, Nigel served as CEO of MTV Networks Asia-Pacific, CEO of MTV Group Japan, and Managing Director of MTV Networks Australia and MTV Networks India, driving all aspects of the businesses, with particular focus on content and commercial development, advertising sales and marketing and advancements in digital media.

UTV is the ITV broadcaster for Northern Ireland and also operate a number of UK radio stations.
