Joan Collins up for Dynasty revival

Joan CollinsDallas has been revived so could its 1980s rival Dynasty glam up for the 21st century? Well according to reports Joan Collins is hoping so.

The ABC drama ran from 1981 to 1989 and was far more OTT than its rival, Dallas. Even some of the smaller plots earlier on in Dynasty’s run raise eyebrows such as poison paint. Joan Collins joined Dynasty at the beginning of its second season as Alexis; the vengeful ex-wife of Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) who was standing trial for the murder of his gay son’s lover. Alexis was there to ensure Blake was convicted and her entrance into Dynasty propelled the drama to ratings highs as she schemed her way through the seasons and lowers.

According to reports Collins is now hopeful that a revival of Dynasty is on the cards. Appearantly co-creator Esther Shapiro has written a “top secret” script for a possible revival. However, leading actor John Joan CollinsForsythe passed away last which could complicate any revival but other stars such as Linda Evans, Emma Samms, John James, Al Corley, Catherine Oxenberg, Heather Locklear, Pamela Bellwood, Tracy Scoggins, Kate O’Mara and Stephanie Beacham are all still alive.

Earlier this year there were talks of a Dynasty prequel movie, being developed by Shapiro, set in the 1960s following a young Blake Carrington trying to make his way in the world. Dallas has been picked up by TNT for a revival airing next year starring original stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.
