Big Brother launches Facebook voting
For the first time fans of Big Brother will be able to vote to save a housemates through a new Facebook app.
Users of the social networking site can buy Facebook Credits which they can then use to vote. Credits are available to buy from Facebook at a minimum of £1, which will give you 16 Facebook Credits. This means that you can vote 16 times with the maximum being 500 votes per eviction.
Agostino Di Falco, Partnerships Director, Channel 5 says: “We’re very pleased that via Big Brother, we are the first broadcaster in the UK to use Facebook Credits as a voting mechanic. This fits very well with our ambition to retain the core essence of the show whilst adding relevant points of innovation which add value to viewers and potential marketing partners alike.”
Jeff Ford, Director of Programmes, Channel 5, adds: “Thanks to this integration with Facebook, we are able to provide Big Brother fans with the opportunity to vote via Facebook – a first in UK broadcasting. Big Brother is the sort of show that works extremely well in conjunction with social media platforms, and this app will allow fans to get even more involved in the show.”
The first eviction of the new series will take place this Friday, in which either Aaron, Harry or Tashie will be evicted from the Big Brother house.
