Melody Scott Thomas signs new Young and the Restless contract

Melody Scott Thomas has signed a new contract with CBS daily saga The Young and the Restless.

Fans of the actress and breath a sigh of relief because she’ll continue to play Nikki Newman in a new three year deal with The Young and the Restless. For a while it looked as though the actress may have made her last appearance on the soap and wouldn’t be returning. The actress made her last appearance as Nikki earlier this year and then disappeared from the action as the actress’ contract expired. Several months on and a new deal has been struck.

The actress has played Nikki Newman, the on/off again wife of Victor, since 1979. Prior to her absence over the past few months the actress’ longest time away from screens was in 2002 when she was out of the soap for two months. Melody Scott Thomas will return to The Young and the Restless set in October though an exact on-screen return date hasn’t been announced yet.
