X Factor USA falls foul of parenting group

The American version of The X Factor has fallen foul of a parenting group after a contestant exposed himself on stage during an audition for the Fox series.

The USA version of the X Factor has only aired a few episodes but its already the subject of a complaint, it didn’t take long did it? The Fox version of the singing competition has fallen foul of a parenting group for a segment which showed a contestant exposing himself during an audition.

In the pre-recorded audition, which aired in Wednesday night’s premier, contestant Geo Godley dropped his pants, exposing his manhood, while he auditioned in front of the judges. Fox did put a huge X Factor X over Godley’s willy but that seemingly wasn’t enough for the parenting group.

As for the judges themselves they were equally shocked. Paula Abdul stormed off stage while L.A Reid ordered him to be removed from the building labelling his audition as “offensive” and “disgusting”.

The Parents Television Council – yes those folks again – has announced it has filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over the incident.

“Perhaps the ‘X’ in X Factor stands for the MPAA rating, If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested. But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation.” said PTC head Tim Winter as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

The Parents Television Council have certainly made their voices heard in the past year or so taking offence to MTV’s remake of Skins, NBC’s The Playboy Club and animated comedies such as Family Guy. The PTC called for a federal enquiry into Skins over its depiction of teenage sex, under-age drinking and drug taking.
