Christine Bleakley to host Stars in Their Eyes style series

Christine BleakleyChristine Bleakley will reportedly front a new ITV entertainment series similar in style to Stars in Their Eyes.

It was reported last week that ITV were considering reviving the new popular Saturday evening entertainment series but with a new twist. Now it has emerged, according to The Mirror, that the broadcaster wants Daybreak presenter Christine Bleakley to front a new series which is basically Stars in Their Eyes. The only difference is the series features celebrities only dressed up as well known singers. A panel, according to the tabloid made up of Louie Spence and Pauline Qurike, have to try and guess who they are.

“When ITV signed Christine from the BBC they made it very clear she would be working on other projects. You don’t pay someone £4million just to present a breakfast programme, especially one that is under-performing. The show is only in the development stage but ITV are hoping it will be the perfect platform for Christine to launch herself as a primetime entertainment presenter. The prosthetics people are absolutely brilliant and from what we’ve been told they make the celebs absolutely unrecognisable.” – A “source” quoted by The Mirror

The series is provisionally titled Guess The Star and ITV have filmed pilots in Manchester. If the series is picked up by the broadcaster it would likely air next year. When ITV lured Bleakley away from the BBC to launch Daybreak part of her contract also included other, prime-time work, for ITV. Co-presenter Adrian Chiles fronts ITV’s football coverage and has chat-show That Sunday Night Show in addition to his Daybreak duties.
