Ben Daniels confirms Merlin role

MerlinBen Daniels has revealed he’ll be appearing in the fourth season of Merlin.

The actor announced via Twitter that he would be appearing in the fourth season of Merlin but, as yet, hasn’t offered up details of his role in the fantasy drama. He tweeted ‘just wrapped’ filming on Merlin and added  “Who knew Merlin would be so much fun?. Had a ball. I’m gonna miss racing round the forest.” The actor joins previously confirmed guest-stars Gemma Jones, Phil Davis, Lindsay Duncan and James Callis and we dare say more are yet to be revealed.

Daniels played James Steel on Law & Order UK on the first four seasons of the crime/legal series based on the American drama of the same name. His other notable credits include playing Finn Bevan in BBC One’s Cutting It between 2002 and 2004 starring alongside Amanda Holden, Sarah Parish, Jason Merrells and Angela Griffin. In 2006 he appeared in the conspiracy thriller The State Within and his other notable roles include The Passion, The Virgin Queen, Beautiful Thing and Silent Witness.

Merlin returns to BBC One on Saturday evening for The Darkest Hour, the first in a two-part story to launch the fourth season. It will air straight after the sixth season finale of Doctor Who, The Wedding of River Song. A fifth season of Merlin has already been ordered by the BBC and reportedly a movie is also in development.
