Terra Nova launches with 9 million viewers
Fox’s highly anticipated Terra Nova launched last night with 9 million viewers.
Early ratings data reveal that Fox’s expensive new drama Terra Nova was seen by 9 million viewers. In the 18-49 demo it had 3.0 rating which is pretty good. Terra Nova stars Jason O’Mara and Shelley Conn and revolves around a group of humans who travel back in time to the Cretaceous period where humanity has founded a colony to start a new society. Terra Nova’s premier was delayed until the now because of all the effects involved in the series. It has been reported its budget is around $4 million per episode so perhaps Fox would have been hoping for more viewers than 9 million.
Elsewhere on Monday evening and as expected Two and a Half Men saw its ratings fall from last week’s season opener. The CBS comedy had 28 million viewers tune in last week for the first episode without Charlie Sheen as Ashton Kutcher joined the cast. It was only to be expected that ratings would drop back after such a massive audience for episode 1, some 20 million viewers tuned in with a 7.2 18-49 rating. The strong ratings for Two and a Half Men helped Mike & Molly pull in 14 million viewers with a 4.9 18-49 rating.
Elsewhere last night and The CW’s new drama Hart of Dixie launched with 1.8 million viewers and Gossip Girl returned for its fifth season with 1.4 million viewers.
