You and Yours to move to Salford?

Reports claim that BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours could be moved to Salford.

Media Guardian reports that the BBC plans to move the long-running consumers affairs programme to its new home of the north in Salford. You and Yours is currently presented by Winifred Robinson, Peter White and Julian Worricker and former presenters include Sue McGregor and Liz Barclay.

The move would be part of the BBC’s plans to move production away from London to other cities such as Cardiff (where Casualty has been moved to) and Salford. Several departments such as children’s and sport are moving to Salford – flagship magazine programme Blue Peter moved to Salford over the Summer broadcasting its first episode from the studios earlier this week. BBC Radio 5 Live is also moving to Salford and BBC Breakfast will also move to the city as well. A question mark remains over daytime soap Doctors which could move to Salford as well if the BBC decide to pull out of Birmingham.

Media Guardian reports that staff on You and Yours were told of the possible move earlier this week.
