‘Route 66’ delivers for ITV 1

Billy Connolly’s trek across America’s most famous highway attracted 5.4 million viewers to ITV 1 last night.

The new four part series sees the Scottish comedian take in the sights and sounds of Route 66 and it seems there is a strong appetite for it. Billy Connolly’s Route 66 at 9.00pm attracted 5.4 million viewers (5.7 if you include those who watched on +1). It beat its closest rival, BBC One’s Torchwood, which had 3.9 million viewers.

It was looking as if Big Brother had stabilised, but the latest edition of the programme has seen the overnight ratings drop even more. At 10.10pm only 1.16 million viewers tuned in on Channel 5. It was narrowly beaten by ITV 2’s Celebrity Juice which had 1.19 million viewers. Tonight is the first live eviction show for Big Brother, of which traditionally is the highest rated episode of the week.
