Cybermen’s return to Doctor Who seen by nearly 7 million viewers

Closing TimeFinal ratings for the Closing Time, the penultimate episode of the sixth season of Doctor Who, reveal nearly 7 million viewers tuned in.

Another week and another hefty rise in consolidated ratings for Doctor Who which prove tabloid stories about declining ratings to be utter rubbish – you know which tabloids we’re talking about. Once again Doctor Who managed to add well over one million viewers to its overnight ratings for Closing Time. According to overnight figures the episode, which saw the return of James Corden from last year’s episode The Lodger, had 5.3 million viewers.

Final figures for the episode, which also saw the return of the Cybermen, reveal it was seen by 6.9 million viewers – 1.6 million viewers more! Plus final figures don’t take into account downloads for the iPlayer service which means actually the episode’s ‘reach’ was even higher still. And just to reassure you, yes Doctor Who once again beat Vernon Kay and All Star Family Fortunes which is obviously good news. Personally we prefer the original ‘non celebrity’ version which is repeated on Challenge.
