Thousands of signatures for Doctor Who Confidential Petition

Doctor Who ConfidentialNearly 30,000 people have signed a petition over the cancellation of BBC Three’s Doctor Who Confidential.

It was announced last week that the Doctor Who ‘behind-the-scenes’ series had been axed by BBC Three controller Zai Bennett as part of cost cutting measures at the digital channel. BBC Three is concentrating its money on ‘prime-time’ audiences and unfortunately Confidential falls outside of those hours. The series has accompanied Doctor Who since its revival in 2005 and has offered a ‘making of’ look at each episode of the series with interviews from key cast and crew members such as Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat, David Tennant, Catherine Tate, Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill, Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan. However, Saturday evening’s instalment, which followed the season six finale The Wedding of River Song, was the last episode because of the axe.

Well Doctor Who fans are ones to take cancellation sitting down and within hours of the axe a petition and a Twitter campaign had already been launched. The petition itself now has over 26,000 signatures and is edging ever closer to the 30,000 mark – it’s doing remarkably well.
