X Factor USA: Simon Cowell regrets predicting huge ratings
Simon Cowell has spoken out about The X Factor USA ratings, admitting that he wanted “20 million” viewers to watch the premier.
The X Factor creator previously said that anything less than 20 million viewers would be seen as a failure. When the show made its debut on FOX last month, it had 12.5 million viewers. It was beaten by ABC’s Modern Family which managed 14.5 million viewers. Cowell said: “I’m not going to lie. I wanted 20 million when we launched, but now I’m kind of back in the real world and I’m seeing this grow naturally. I’m as happy as I’ve ever been.”
Simon Cowell has taken a big risk this year launching X Factor America. In the UK, the show is continuing to do well for ITV 1, with the latest show attracting over 11 million viewers. It was feared that with Cowell not sitting on the panel this year ratings would decline, however this series has remained steady.
