Doctor Who tops iPlayer requests for September
Doctor Who was once again one of the most requested programmes on the BBC iPlayer service taking four of the five top places.
Cementing its popularity with iPlayer users once more Doctor Who was once again top of the charts for downloads. Just as with previous seasons – and indeed the first half of this year’s sixth season – Doctor Who has topped the charts proving the popularity of the series is not declining at all – rubbishing all those media reports.
The most requested of episode of Doctor Who in September was The Girl Who Waited, written by Tom MacRae, with 1.16 million requests by the end of the month. Second was Mark Gatiss’ episode Night Terrors which was originally due to air earlier in the year but was swapped around in the episode order by Steven Moffat. Night Terrors was downloaded 1.11 million times. In fourth place was The God Complex and in fifth place was the penultimate episode, Closing Time. Figures for the season finale The Wedding of River Song won’t be released until the end of October but its almost certain to be high on the requested list.
