The Simpsons renewed by Fox for two more seasons

The SimpsonsIn something of a turn around The Simpsons has been renewed by Fox – for TWO more seasons!

It was only a few days ago that the future of The Simpsons looked bleak indeed as Fox announced to the world it couldn’t fund further seasons under the current ‘financial model’. Fox wanted the cast to take a hefty 45% pay cut. Very quickly the media began to speculate that even if a deal could be reached over pay only one season – a final season – would be ordered.

Well just a day after voice actor Harry Shearer spoke out over the pay dispute it seems the disagreement is all over! Fox has announced it has renewed The Simpsons for a further two seasons meaning the ‘current financial model’ has obviously changed. That means The Simpsons will return for a 24th and a 25th season – a nice round figure on which to end, maybe? The 500th episode of the animated comedy will air during its current 23rd season. By the time the comedy ends its 25th season it will have nearly 560 episodes under its belt. Who knows though if The Simpsons will continue beyond that?
