Liverpool Ghoul School with Jeff Brazier

Television presenter Jeff Brazier has shown his creative side with the world’s first Ghoul School in Liverpool.

“We know Halloween is growing in popularity every year which is why we’re celebrating by creating the world’s first ever Halloween Ghoul School. We want to provide parents with everything they need to make Halloween 2011 a fantastic family occasion.” says Dan Rubel, Head of Brand at Woolworths.co.uk

The regular on ITV’s This Morning became Head Teacher of the Ghoul School on Saturday. The event, which saw Jeff teach ten of the nation’s scariest children how to become the best ghouls, ghosts and Trick or Treaters, was held in 15th century Speke Hall which is a renowned local haunt for ghostly going-ons, so much so Sky Living’s Most Haunted investigation series has featured the hall as part of its spirit searches.

Sponsored by retailer Woolworths the school was set up in response to the growing trend for UK families to make a celebration of Halloween. It is suggested that on average over £100 is spent on parties and trick or treating, second only to Christmas in terms of spending, according to a recent survey by the online retail outlet.

The day consisted of Halloween themed lessons in magic, pumpkin carving and decoration making as well as games and activities hosted by celebrity Head Teacher, Jeff Brazier. Jeff also helped choose the two winners from the group 8 year old Nicole Lee from Manchester and 11 year old James Murray from Wales who were crowned Head Boy and Head Girl of Ghoul School. The two winners also won four tickets to scare-tastic UK theme park Alton Towers and a spooky Halloween bedroom makeover.

As part of the Ghoul School celebration Woolworths.co.uk conducted a survey to find which school the nation thought was the scariest. Not surprisingly Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from Harry Potter came out on top closely followed by Crunchem Hall Primary School from Matilda and Forks High School in Twilight.

“I had an amazing day at Ghoul School with the 10 scariest kids in the UK. Halloween is an amazing time of year and as a father of two myself I want to make sure my kids have one to remember too. I learned loads of tips from Ghoul School and will be using them now as we approach Halloween.” – Jeff Brazier
