The Apprentice: Winner ‘fired’ from job

Stella English, who won The Apprentice in 2010, has been fired from her £100,000 job.

English told The Sunday Mirror newspaper that she walked out of her job after she was told her contract would not be renewed. She went on to criticise the programme and highlight the realities of winning the show. Working on one of Lord Sugar’s IT companies, Viglen. She was shocked to learn that she would be reporting to a manager paid a fraction of her six figure salary.

“My jaw hit the floor because he was so junior. There were four or five people between me and Lord Sugar. It was disappointing because I knew previous Apprentices had been given the chance to work more closely with him.” – Stella English talking to the Sunday Mirror

She left Viglen half way through last year and moved onto another business of Lord Sugar’s, YouView, where she took up position of commercial manager. During a meeting last month, she said she was told that they didn’t know what to do with her.

“Your contract’s up at the end of December and I don’t know what to do with you after that because that’s it, so you might think about what you want to do.” Stella added.

This year’s winner was Tom Pollereau, who was given £250,000 to launch a new product with Lord Sugar.
