Rose Leslie joins Game of Thrones
Actress Rose Leslie has joined the ever expanding cast of HBO’s fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
Entertainment Weekly report the actress has been cast in the role of Ygritte, a Wilding woman who ‘Jon Snow meets during during his adventures beyond the Wall‘. The cast of Games of Thrones has expanded by a fair bit for the second season with other confirmed additions including Oona Chaplin, Hannah Murray, Natalie Dormer, Roy Dotrice, and Stephen Dillane.
Rose Leslie will be best known to UK audiences for her role in the first series of Downton Abbey. Leslie played maid Gwen who, with the encourage of Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown-Findlay), undertakes a course to be a secretary and later finds herself a job away from the grand house at the close of season one. As yet the character has not appeared on the second series which, in the UK, is currently airing on ITV1 and is mid-way through the season.
Filming on Game of Thrones’ second season is continuing in Ireland with production shifting to Malta and Croatia as well.
