Gaynor Faye to join Emmerdale

EmmerdaleFormer Coronation Street actress Gaynor Faye is to join the cast of Yorkshire soap Emmerdale.

ITV has confirmed that Faye will join the cast of the soap as Megan Macey, the half sister of Declan (Jason Merrells). The official ITV Emmerdale website states that Megan will arrive in the village early next year and will be “glamorous, fiercely ambitious and highly intimidating”.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Emmerdale and being a Yorkshire lass myself, filming in Leeds, my home town, is the icing on the cake! The women in Emmerdale are strong and feisty and I can’t wait to play my character who’s fun but extremely driven and will stop at nothing to get her own way! She’s quite different to many of the roles that I have played before and hopefully will take people by surprise. Here’s to the New Year when I take my first tipple in the Woolpack!” – Gaynor Faye

“I’m thrilled to welcome Gaynor to the show. This is an exciting new character for us and a new era at Home Farm. Megan will quickly remind Declan she has a shrewd ability to get what she wants, when she wants it.” – Stuart Blackburn, series producer

Faye played Judy Mallett in fellow ITV soap Coronation Street between 1995 and 1999 when her character was killed off. After leaving the soap Faye appeared in a succession of high profile dramas such as Fat Friends, Playing the Field, Between the Sheets and The Chase. Faye won the 2006 series of Dancing on Ice beating fellow contestants Bonnie Langford and Stefan Booth in the finale.
