NBC orders more Prime Suspect scripts
NBC has shown confidence in its Prime Suspect remake by ordering additional scripts of the detective drama.
Entertainment Weekly report that NBC has ordered an additional six scripts of the series starring Maria Bello. It’s a sign of confidence in the series that has yet to deliver strong ratings for NBC and comes after the broadcaster cancelled Free Agents and the Playboy Club because of their poor performance. Prime Suspect is currently being repeated in Playboy Club’s old slot until the end of the month. Some had placed Prime Suspect as next on NBC’s hit list but the script order doesn’t mean the drama is out of the woods yet. NBC could still pull the plug on the series if it continues to underperforms of if its ratings fall further.
Prime Suspect is based on the British series of the same named created by prolific writer Lynda La Plante creator of other British dramas such as Above Suspicion, Trial and Retribution, The Commander and Widows. The highly acclaimed and award winning drama starred Helen Mirren and ran for seven seasons between 1991 and 2006.
