General Hospital lowest rated soap
General Hospital continues to rate lowly for ABC and is the lowest rated daytime soap in America.
The future of the medical soap is far from secure with fans fearing it will be culled by ABC to make way for Katie Couric’s new chat-show which will air in General Hospital’s current time-slot. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean ABC will axe General Hospital to make room for Couric – it may simply move the soap – but fans have good cause to fear considering the network has already cancelled All My Children and its top rated soap, One Life to Live.
General Hospital continues to struggle in the ratings and is currently the lowest rated daytime soap in America. Last week it had an average of 2.2 million viewers which was down over 300k on the previous week and last year – not a good sign. However, new head-writer Garin Wolf is working hard to turn around the fortunes of the soap by bringing back fan favourites so there is yet hope for the medical saga.
Elsewhere last week The Young and the Restless continued to dominate the ratings with 4.2 million viewers but a closer inspection of its ratings reveals it was three quarters of a million viewers down on last year – representing a new low for the CBS soap. The Bold and the Beautiful averaged 2.8 million viewers across the week while NBC soap Days of our Lives had 2.45 million viewers. ABC soap One Life to Live was only just behind Days with 2.41 million viewers.
