ITV to bring back Play Your Cards Right
The Sun claims ITV is planning to revive the classic game show Play Your Cards Right.
The popular series was presented by Bruce Forsythe and ran between 1980 and 2003 on ITV – originally produced by LWT before the merger of the regional franchises. The series was often called Bruce Forsythe’s Play Your Cards Right and was memorable for its catchphrase “Higher or Lower?”. The Sun reports that ITV are planning to revive the game show with Vernon Kay as its new presenter; Kay currently presents ITV’s revived Family Fortunes (as All Star Family Fortunes).
“Dreaming up new game show ideas is not easy so bosses decided to dip into the archives. Play Your Cards Right was massively popular and it’s an easy concept so they figured, let’s bring it back. Vernon is the obvious choice as he’s made no bones about his love for Bruce and his desire to be his telly heir.” – A “source” told The Sun
The Sun reports that ITV is ordering a pilot for the new series and hopes it’ll be back on-air next year. The original series produced 255 editions and was revived as part of Gameshow Marathon (the first series of which was presented by Ant & Dec and the second by Vernon Kay) in 2005.
