Latest Hollyoaks storyline sees first look ratings surge
The latest Hollyoaks wedding storyline has seen ratings rise as the teen soap gets back on track.
The ‘fourth soap’ has been enjoying recent success on E4 with its first look episode which follows the Channel 4 airing. The drama surrounding the build up to the wedding of Riley Costello (Rob Norbury) and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) has enticed viewers for months following Mercedes’ affair with Riley’s father Carl (Paul Opacic). Over 800,000 tuned in on Monday’s first look episode after viewers on Channel 4 seen Mercedes revealing all. Last night’s first look attracted over 700,000 viewers, which is significantly up from what it usually gets. With many tuning into the first look episode, this has not dented the Channel 4 figure at 6.30pm, with up to 1.2 million watching on Tuesday.
The serial killer storyline is also taking centre stage once again as Silas (Jeff Rawle) prepares to kill again on the night of Halloween. This week he will take Mercedes hostage and begin to torment Lynsey Nolan (Karen Hassan) over his plans. The storyline began late last year when Silas killed India Longford (Beth Kingston) after she thought she was meeting up with a young man through an Internet dating website.
