Gaddafi death dominates Twitter discussions
The capture and subsequent death of former Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi has dominated Twitter today as the news spread across the world.
Most of the top trending words today were linked to the the demise of Gaddafi who had been on the run since August. Speculation was rife for hours after the National Transitional Council told Reuters news agency that the ousted leader had been captured, then killed. Official confirmation came later when the Libyan Prime Minister confirmed the news, which came alongside video and pictures of his body. Broadcasters issued warnings before airing the graphic images.
BBC Two aired a BBC News Special, linking up with the News Channel. Sky News had rolling coverage for a number of hours, with CNN domestic and international channels teaming up. In America, the networks aired special reports which aired across the nation during breakfast time locally.
