Georgia Taylor and Ben Turner to exit Casualty

Casualty stars Georgia Taylor and Ben Turner are to depart the long-running medical series.

The duo, who play Ruth Winters and Jay Faldren respectively, will bow out from the show later this year in a “heart-stopping” episode. Their on/off relationship has proven a hit with fans over the past few years.

Taylor made her first appearance as Ruth in 2007 and has had an eventful few years in Holby’s emergency department.

Storylines featuring the character include a suicide attempt, recurring conflict with her colleagues, suffering a breakdown and being diagnosed with bi polar, and her relationship with Jay, who has been portrayed by Turner since 2008.

Jay has also had his fair share of ups and downs over the past few years; including battling testicular cancer and coping with Ruth’s decision to abort their baby.

Casualty recently filmed its last episode in Bristol after 25 years in the city; the drama has relocated to new studios in Cardiff, Roath Lock.
